Even after 19 years of serious practice exT1D has really cleared up some of the unsolved mysteries. I was so sick of spending months training for a race and turning up to the event without a plan to control my Type 1. I know have the knowledge to make a solid plan of my control during sport and stick to it.
I knew what was going to happen, now I know why and can stay a step ahead. I no longer have to “wing it”.
After showing my parents through the e-coach they commented “If only we had that information fifteen years ago!”
After 19 years of having type 1 diabetes and taking part in competitive sports I’m confident managing my Type 1, but the way you describe how things work simply eliminates much of the guess work. I knew what was going to happen, now I know why and can stay a step ahead. I no longer have to “wing it”.
Thanks again for your help, I’ve never looked for help with my diabetes because all I get is negative feedback or really bad advice. I find mainly that people have trouble relating to what I’m trying to do or achieve. I would recommend the site to everyone who has type 1 and their families. I was diagnosed when I was 10 and this would have been awesome back then. It’s easy to see the advantages that a concerned parent would receive from the site. After showing my parents through the e-coach they commented “If only we had that information fifteen years ago!”
This has been a blessing to me as with the new pump. My understanding about setting basal rates around exercise times is much clearer. The graphics work very well and the real life scenarios are a great example of how to piece it all together. I also like how you relate to other T1s that you have dealt with. It gets rid of that feeling of “should I be doing this? no one else is” when I’m riding by bikes.
