I'm motivated, but where do I start? A key reason people with type 1 diabetes are not as active as they would like is they simply find it all too confusing. One of the most frustrating parts of having type 1 diabetes is when everthing you read says exercise is good for you and then leaves you standing, thinking OK, show me how! There is a massive gap between knowing the benefits of exercise and finding practical 'nuts & bolts' information that gives you the confidence to get started. Coach Bolton is comitted to building your confidence and showing you how to make exercise a part of everyday life via his e-coach and ongoing support more... or join up!

I want my child to enjoy exercise and sport like I have. On paper, ideal diabetes management seems to require monotinous consistency - what kid wants a life of 'ground hog day'? Parents are often challenged by scenarios where scheduling of weekend sport, practice and school physical education doesn't match-up with their child's diabetes managemen regime. Worse still, when they finally get things sorted schedules are changed and so the pattern goes... Coach Bolton doesn't want to take the place of your specialist diabetes care team however, he does want to provide practical models to help parents get their heads around some of the complexities that surround exercising with type 1 diabetes and feel empowered so they can be part of the solution, not left feeling powerless and gulity more... or join up!

I'm fit and a regular exerciser but my blood sugar levels are all over the place! Being fit and active is important for everyone whether you have diabetes or not. Looking fit however doesn't make up for blood sugar graphs that look more like an ECG readout (an ECG is an electrocardiogram). Aside from the broader health issues, being able to manage BGLs and exercise better will simply have you performing better. You will get more out of each workout, feel better afterwards and enjoy greater improvements in fitness and head space more... or join up!

I enjoy exercise for the way it makes me feel, but I have to eat so much to avoid hypos how can it possibly help me manage or lose weight? This is a frustration of many people with Type 1 Diabetes, learning more about the relationships between exercise timing and your insulin profile will help you get a weight loss benefit from exercise, not gain weight from eating the energy you burn. Getting fitter also makes insulin work better so you don't need as much, this also improves weight loss or management. more... or join up!

I like taking part in fun runs and I think I could run faster if I could manage my BGLs better Better blood sugars = better better performance.
